Katsuren-jo... And another "jo"...

Katsuren-jo! That means Katsuren Castle. We went there. A few months ago. With Cousin Kyle, who is a Marine out here.
It was free (price-wise) and free (restriction-wise).  Lots of places to run and frolic.
Maybe a little too free. It made me a smidge nervous to have the three (fearless) rascals peering over walls that are really just cliffs.
They always have a lot of fun with Kyle, and he's really great with kids. And energetic. He's energetic.
Oh, yeah!! The cutest little kitty was there... just a-curled on the steps. We were so very tempted to take him home. So very.  I'm sure he has a home, though. He was too friendly and filled-out looking to not.
Bran loved him.  This was actually not long after Dynamite (remember Dynamite? Briefly mentioned back in AUGUST. The stray cat we offered our home to, and she practically spit in our faces on her way out. She ditched us right before a typhoon. That really says something. I'm not bitter, nor offended...), and he (they) really, really wanted a kitty. Still does (um, do...).
We bought some ice cream afterwards. This is not ice cream. Kyle didn't want any, so it was only fair that he got the length of sugar cane the ice cream man cut for us.
Nuala and Maeve DID want ice cream, and enjoyed it immensely.
And Now...Some Other Castle Ruins with the Hendrick Family...!
And just because castle ruins go together, I present to you ANOTHER castle trip... with our friends/neighbors, the Hendrick family.  They're the ones with a little Fiona (just turned 4), and a little Leif (almost 2).
I don't remember the name of these ruins, but they are VERY ruined. Pretty much just some walls. BUT, walls are fun, because they are rocky and climby.
And that is what we did. Climbed.
And Bran sat down to sketch in his notebook.
I'm fairly certain there was some whining that went along with this picture...

Afterwards, we stopped at a nearby park. Here's the view from the top of the roller slide there.
The girls on a dog.
The very awesome rope-climby-thingy.
Bran on the very awesome rope-climby-thingy...

AND, our friends, Megan and Rijen (pronounced "Ryan"). Now you have faces to go with the names.  We're having fun exploring the many ruins here... maybe too MUCH fun... no, not too much fun. It just sounded like I needed to say that! "Too much fun?! WHAT'S that mean? It's like too much money... there's no-oo such thing... It's like..." Remember that song? Okay. Time for bed...

You find castles wherever you go! Love it! And hey! Your hair is growing back! Cute! Maeve's hair is sooo long! Aine is impressed. Cute kitty...looks like he/she was more appreciative that Dynamite, at least. B&N are looking sooooo grown up. So. Definitely not like kindergarteners. Tell them to stop. Put a brick on their heads. Wow on that slide...that is like the mother of all slides! I love the rope climby thing, too. That looks like it would entertain kids for a loooong time. Also, I like Rijen's name. Is it an ethnic spelling or a creative one? Just curious. ;)

Ethnic! It's Dutch... He was born in the Netherlands, but he's American.

Maeve's hair. Oh, man! She loves how long it is! In fact, she's kind of snotty about it sometimes, how "long and shiny and beautiful and SPARKLY and blond" it is. And she flips it, and won't wear anything it it usually... It's pretty funny. It makes a great threat source, though. "Well, if you won't ..., I guess we're going to have to cut your hair... " ;) She IS due for a little trim, though!

Wonderful day. I always think of the people who built the castles. That was a lot rock stacking. My attention span for that would have been very limited.
