pumpkins and apples

You can't have Halloween without pumpkins! Well, you can. It's just more fun with them. The pumpkins here are a tad bit different than the ones in the States, but they still do the job! Maybe they're not technically pumpkins, but close enough.

Mmmmm... nice and slimy! This part is always fun, isn't it?
Nuala kept popping pieces into her mouth. And eating them. And enjoying them. I've never been too partial to raw pumpkin, but to each her own!
Maeve had to try them, too. Weird, I know.
Bran and his cyclops jack-o-lantern.
Nuala and her three-eyed guy.
They got a little sad as the month went by. They did look a little spookier this way, though!
Then we carved some more.
These technically aren't pumpkins or apples, if you couldn't tell, but they fit in the fruit/veggie category. And she was so cute munching on the mandarins.
Bran was soooo excited to bob for apples. We finally did it, and that boy was thrilled! We'd been reading books with apple bobbing in them and he had his little heart set on it.
See? Thrilled. Wet and thrilled!
He got quite good at it, after figuring out the trick to pushing them against the side.
Nuala got it down, too. Of course, we then had several half-gnawed apples, so we sliced them up and made Exploding Dulce de Leche (that's dulce de leche that explodes in your microwave. Fun to clean up... I imagine, anyway, since Z cleaned it up) to dip them in. Pretty yummy. Kinda made us feel like we were back in Uruguay.

Awww, such cute pics! It must've been pretty warm early in Oct when you carved the first ones... Z's in shorts and barefoot ... they are really cool pumpkins and look like a nice vibrant orangy colour inside ... good idea N, to eat chunks raw ... all that vit A! LOL at the cyclops vs the 3-eyed one ... it evens out! They look so nice, with the lights inside them. M looks like she's standing up, but I think she's leaning against Dad. Yeah, looks like B doesn't mind one bit being nice'n wet! When I was little, we always bobbed for apples, and it was fun. We had lotsa nuts too (the edible kind), and we searched for the ring in a barm brack!
Thanks for sharing ... they're all great pics and stories!!! love, Mom (Dad too) xox

Cute, those are way good jack o'lanterns. Nice of Nuala to make up for Bran's one eyed guy! Yuck about eating the pumpkin raw! Although, I can't say I've ever tried it, so maybe it's good? Bobbing for apples looks like fun, I love how excited Bran looks to do it! Nice of Zac to clean the microwave and not leave it for the maid ;)

No, Maeve's standing there. She stands all the time now, and appreciates it greatly if applause follows... ;)
