The new "coolness"

There's a time in life where you think you have an idea about what type of person you will be later on and you make promises to yourself about what you will and won't do so you can remain "cool". You swear off things like making embarrassing jokes, like every dad makes, and persuade yourself that you will be the "cool" dad. You swear you'll still listen to "cool" music and never slow down on the slopes or on the trails.

And then one day you catch yourself telling a joke that only you and your old man would find funny... all loud music gives you a headache... 4 hours is a good long ski day... and your Boy Scout troop always leaves you behind.

What you find then is new varieties of things become cool, much to your dismay. So, why the prose on "coolness"?... we broke down and purchased a mini-van this last weekend. We just couldn't stay in the Subaru Forester any longer. The twins come with too many accessories...

Much as I hate to say it I love our new mini-van. We bought a Honda Odyssey EX '02 complete with leather seats and duel automatic sliding doors. The doors are sweet!! We just push a button and they open as we walk out the door of the house, and the van is all open by the time we get out to the van... no juggling two babies, diaper bags, coats, etc. while trying to find keys and open doors. Simply wonderful! The twins now ride in leather luxury with more space then they need, separated so they can't hit each other (planning for the future). And for us up front nice 8 direction electric seats. I really hate to say it, but mini-vans RULE! ~ Zachariah

Way to go! I tried my hardest to talk Mika into buying a minivan, but she wouldn't even test drive one. I'm sure Bran and Nuala will enjoy the extra space.

Justification can get you everywhere... especially in a new minivan. (At least it's a Honda.)

WOW That is one cool vehichle!! Vans have come a long way in luxury. Here I finally at age 51 have my very first leather seats and I love it. Don't have all the bells and whistles that the twins get but still am very happy with it. Loved the writings and pics you two.
