Outer Banks

So Friday and Saturday we spent in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, hitting the beach one last time (actually, it was also the first time...) this year and visiting the spot where the Wright brothers flew for the very first time. It's amazing to realize that their first flight took place only a little over 100 years ago! What progress mankind has made in that relatively short amount of time. Of course, anything is possible with guidance from above. This big rock marks the spot the airplane took off from. I didn't post the pics of Zac pretending to be an airplane. He says I always make him do dumb poses, but he seldom refuses, what a sport!

Erin, Rob, Liam, and Brigit went, also, and it's hard not to have fun with Liam around (or the rest of his family ;)! He was crazy excited about the ocean, and loved charging out into the waves. He wasn't even phased when Rob knocked him down and then basically ran over him while body boarding.

We had awesome beach weather Saturday, and Zac had a great time skim boarding on his homemade skim board. You can't really see it, but I painted a cool Mayan design on it a couple of summers back, as did Erin on theirs, but they didn't skimboard much. Me neither, since I don't want to squish our babies.

One highlight of the trip was stopping at Sonic on the way there and back. We love Sonic! For you poor souls not familiar with it, it's a drive-in type fast food place, all over back in Texas and other areas of the States, but not up in the DC area! Terrible! The closest one is 98 miles away...in Delaware...Sonic has the awesomest limeade slushes ever, as well as other delectable treats and burgers, etc. Mmmm...I want a slush now...
