Today we cleaned out my car...first time in 2 1/2 years, Zac points out...but I contend that only means I'm exceptionally clean and didn't need to really clean it, not that it was a total sty. We plan on taking it to Carmax in the next couple of days, see what they'll give us for it. Sigh...we love our car, it's a Subaru Forester, a white '98, with the decent sized wheels, not the scutty little ones. I'll be really sad to get rid of it, but we can't ship it to Georgia, so that's life.
Also today I danced a jig at work for our belated St. Patrick's Day concert. Last year, Erin (my sister) had just moved out here (along with hubby and Liam), and she and I shopped for matching outfits, etc., I even bought Tara brooches on ebay. We looked spiffy! So the two of us put together a jig from the steps we learned way back when...I stopped taking lessons when I was 9, and Erin was 7 or 8, so it's been a while. My older sister, Aislinn, took lessons, too, but she lives in Austin and couldn't make it up to Virginia for the performance. We had a lot of fun doing it! However, since Erin had Brigit via c-section last month, doing a jig was kinda not recommended, so I went solo.
Actually, I thought I was going to not be available (darn!), we've got a lot of stuff going on with the move...doc appointments, packing appraisers, Russian classes, etc. so when I couldn't swing the initial date of the concert (Tues.), I was not upset. However, the organizer kindly convinced all the others involved to rearrange their schedules and move it to today so I could participate. Didn't I feel like a diva! I wasn't nervous until today at work, I mean, it's only a minute and a half long, and nobody really cares how I do except for me, so no big deal. But, really, when it came down to it, I woulda liked to NOT do it by myself. It's just more fun to have someone to giggle with about it, take your mind off it. Erin and I had a great time last year, even though we didn't look perfect and at one point I couldn't even FIND Erin...hmmm...still don't really know where she went...everyone seemed to enjoy it, and most importantly we had a blast! Surprisingly, little Liam sat quietly in his stroller watching his mom and aunt hop-sidekick-hop back-hop 1,2,3,4, while the audience clapped in time to the music.
This time, when I was already all alone, did the audience make it any easier on me? Nope. They were ENTIRELY silent the whole time. Just me grinning determinedly and trying to bounce as high as I could off my toes while making sure my shoulders were back and wondering why I didn't wear my headband since my hair immediately began flopping into my face on the right side. It's over, I survived, and looking back can kinda say I enjoyed it. But it's more fun with a sister.
