Getting ready for Halloween!

Okay, contrary to popular belief, we are semi-lazy. I know!! Shocking!! Basically, that means we didn't, and probably are not going to, carve pumpkins this year. We went the marker route. (Also, there are no bright orange pumpkins here! Only big, very pale orange ones. Survivable, but sad. My orange marker doesn't seem up to the task of coloring the whole pumpkin...and no baby pumpkins either. Of course, it is springtime...) The twins did have fun scribbling on their little squashes, and on the 2 big ones we got.

Also, they OF COURSE had fun scribbling on each other! Nuala apparently had more fun than Bran.
Will Bran and Nuala be scarred for not actually participating in carving a pumpkin for their 2nd Halloween? Only time will tell... They will be scarred, temporarily, with the permanent markers we so intelligently used with our not-quite-two-year-olds. Fun, fun, fun!!

Ok that is so cute. I cant wait to take Mathias to the farm this wknd and your pics make me even more excited. Not to mention his first Trick-or-Treat experience. Bran Man sure has the best angry old man faces at least thats what they make me think of

Bran seems to be sensitive to being drawn on. Cute squashes! Can you eat them later?

Well I feel semi-better. Sometimes I feel like the laziest person I know. I am working on getting a little better each day, and not at all others. Thanks for the important reminder.

That was really cute. I definitely understand the not carving thing, time, energy and mess! I love the finished product, but I definitely do it less and less as the years go by.

I don't know if it is laziness... It is HARD to do those extra really messy things that take lots of time to do and to clean up, plus the hazard of using a knife around kids who are soooooo curious... If it is lazy, then we have been super lazy!!! This is actually the first in Paige's 5 years that we plan to actually CARVE pumpkins. In the past, we bought the kiddos sugar pie pumpkins and had them paint on them with WASHABLE paint or color them with WASHABLE marker. That way I could just wash them off in the sink after Halloween and use them for pumpkin soup. Yum! I like that you used the squashes rather than sad looking pumpkins. They look cute! The squash AND the kids. Poor Bran, I don't think he wants to be colored on. I think you've probably learned the lesson: Kids and permanent markers are not compatable! Well, they are very compatable I guess. They are very drawn to one another!

oh they are so so cute!!! We laughed out loud (ahem, I spelled it out b/c Gary thought it was "weird" that WE oldies would write "lol")... the pair of them have a lot of fun with the markers and bare chests... the last one is very funny...the look on Nuala's face as she observes poor upset Bran!!! They'll prob be expecting to have markers anytime they see squash hangin' around from now on... thanks for sharing, and giving us such a good ol LOL :)

So cute! I love the pics of them coloring each other. I always thought pumpkin carving was gross (shocking, I know), so I don't think they are too deprived ;)

That is funny. I love bran's sad face it actually looks all screwed up from an animated character. They are adorable i must say just coloring all over themselves. Just hope they don't take those markers to your wall. My mother could tell you what that is like. ( : lol

So cute! Bran has the best facial expressions, LOL. I bet he's going to really appreciate that last one when you break it out for his girlfriend in 20 years. ;o)

How Fun! If it makes you feel any better, we are going to skip the whole pumpkin thing this year...too lazy, too much money....Alex won't know what's going on anyways. :) Instead, Alex is just going to be dressed as a pumpkin! Don't worry, we won't carve him OR draw on him though. :)
