First Haircut *sob!*

I finally gave in and cut Bran's hair. I'm very sad, because despite the un-even-ness (how would you write that...?), he looks so much more like a "big boy." Now, he didn't have gorgeous curls, but he had gorgeous flip-out ends, and I loved them. Zac had been pestering me for weeks to give him a trim, but I just couldn't! When I realized that I could do this, though, I decided it was time...
...and just in case the ponytail's not girly enough, he's also carrying around a little bottle of Burt's Bees Tomato Facial Toner.

Before, my little raggedy-boy:

And, after, in all his First-Haircut-Glory:

He did not enjoy the experience. I did it while he was eating, that was supposed to distract him, but it didn't! It's pretty uneven...Z thinks we should get a Flowbee...you know, that haircut thing from the 80s that vacuums up the hair and trims it all to the pre-set length. That would obviously be a lot less scary for a little guy. Vacuuming his head. Okay, you hair gurus, send me your tips for trimming little ones' hair! I don't know when, but I assume eventually Nuala will be getting a trim, and there must be some secret I don't know...ice cream? plus movie?

ahh! first hair cuts! I'm going to be a terrible hair-trimmer so get ready for some laughs when I get there.

He's adorable. It doesn't look uneven to me. the bath shot (1st) is hilarious!

good job!

From what I can see you did a great job!!!!! The first haircut is always the hardest, what a handsome little man! And you don't want a flowbe (and like you said it will scare the little man right out of his chair!). Good job!

You did better than when I cut Mathias hair the first time!! And I feel your pain I look at Mathias 1yr Pic and feel so sad that his long wispy hair isnt there, but then I think of how he daily uses his hair as a napkin and think Im glad I dont have to worry about it much. also I broke down and now I just buzz it with the clippers much faster and he no longer screams about it!!

He looks adorable all grown up. I have no tips for you. Ben's first hair cut took forever and he's never forgotten the torture...or so he says.

The hair cut looks great! He is so handsome!
For Gavyn's first haircut I waited until he was asleep to do it. I knew that was the only time he wouldn't be (too) active.

The only time gwen's hair has turned out was when I was holding her upright towards me in a bear hug and someone else did the trimming. I tried once on my own and cried at the results. I let all the other moms think that she'd cut it herself it was such a bad job! Good luck- Gwen's almost 4 and it's still a challange.
