The first couple of times we went, nary a grain made its way near little mouths. So I told the embassy nurse that, when she was asking how the babies did at the beach, if we keep them away from dog doo-doo, etc. I was kinda proud, I said, "Oh, they don't even put the sand in their mouths!" meaning: "they're so advanced, they know that it could be dangerous, and besides, they know it's not food and that eating it would just be pointless!" That afternoon, at the beach, two little mouths were immediately filled with sand. I bet they just hadn't really thought about it, too much else to see and do, but then they heard us talking about it and realized they had neglected that avenue of exploration. Ah, but the beach is wonderful for tiring them out! Nuala never wants to get out of the water, even if she's shivering and her lips are turning blue. When Bran gets cold he wants to be wrapped in his towel and held.
Now, I had planned on getting a bunch of super-cute beach pictures, but (if I even remember to bring it) the camera doesn't get to stay out for long at all, the tykes are so excited to run everywhere and hijack soccer balls and play in the water that it's just not feasable. Maybe we'll figure out how to juggle everything better next time! Zac and I did get to skimboard a little, he's great at it, I need some work...

They are the most adorable beach bums I have ever seen. It looks like a blast and so warm once again we have snow!! Unfortunately the juggling thing doesnt seem to get better just easier with practice!
Aww, those are the cutest pictures ever! Zac and Bran look very cute in their water outfits! I wish I could play with them at the beach too, they sound so fun!
HOW GREAT! the beach right there? what's the water temp? does it make your area windy to live in?
Love the pics you did get anyway, hope to see more beach pics, maybe one of N "bear walking" in the waves? or video that one! haha.
The water temp is about 70 degrees right now, plus or minus depending on the day. And it's not really exceptionally windy in our neighborhood, though sometimes on the beach it is...not good for sand-throwing.
(And Z was totally going for "cute" with his outfit, good call, Tooks!)
Oh, how I wish I could be there.
Looks so warm, compared to our weather of snow ans ice.
Only another 30 days of this stuff if I'm lucky.

Good to hear that Zac's ol' bones haven't gotten too rickety for skim boarding (turning 30 and all). I can't wait to finally get to meet the twins this summer! Seeing all of you guys in your swim gear makes me feel like it is getting close! haha. maybe not. Anyway, glad to see that you all are having fun in the sun!

Jealousy is the only word that comes to mind after reading this post.
That is so fun! I love how Nuala is just a water-woman.
