Fiesta de Navidad

We went to the embassy's Christmas party for kids on Tuesday, and man!! Nuala and Bran had a blast!! There was a craft table, treats, Santa Claus, and -- their favorite by far -- those inflatable jumping-things (inflables). There were two inflables, and one was designated for "little" kids. The oldest ones ever in there were about 4 or 5, and then there was a whole gaggle of little ones, Nuala and Bran being the littlest. Yep, the littlest, but they surely held their own, plus some. They squealed and flopped and bounced and tackled a little bit (oops...).

Nuala climbed into one of the obstacles inside and tried to stand up, which resulted in her flipping forward out of it and landing smack upside-down on her head. All the parents said, "Ooooh..." very shocked-like, with those worried looks on their faces, but Nuala just sat up and started laughing. That's our girl! When it was time to go see Santa, the rascals wouldn't come out! Nuala kept darting past the little doorway, just out of reach, with the most mischievous look on her face, and we couldn't even get Bran near the entrance. We had to lure him with food. Typical guy.
Papa Noel, as Santa is known here, didn't go over even a quarter as well as the bouncy-house. We thought Nuala wouldn't have an issue, since she never seems to mind weird-looking people, but we couldn't get the child on his lap at all! She didn't cry one bit, but twisted this way and that to avoid touching him. I could barely hold onto her. A little family terminology here: we call her "Twisty Sister" when she gets like that, doing her "crocodile rolls."Bran cried. But they still got their little treats, and hopefully next year will be more successful...though I hafta say, it's actually rather cute when little ones can't quite take the Big Man. We had fun, with wonderful sunny summer weather. AND, it was almost like having a (free) birthday party for them. They saw lots of their friends, got loads of birthday well-wishes, ate yummy stuff, and played in the coolest thing they'd ever laid eyes on! Just no presents to lug home, which I am so okay with.

hi there...the pics are great...the bouncing thing looks like so much fun for them. Dad and I were lamenting the fact that we didn't have one of those when WE were small! It is just amazing to see N&B walking around the Christmas tree...not much like babies any more! They look like such happy little children! Can't wait to have you all home next week :) Love, Mom and Dad xox

They are so cute! I love 'twisty sister' her santa picture is the best, just trying to twist right out of there:)

I feel really bad for the Santa being so hot there and then wearing the suit!

Both of our girls screamed at Santa -- not happy screams, but pure terror screams. All of Pete's co-workers thought it was hilarious.

Merry Christmas!
