Ten Months

Okay, it's the 19th, so it's the "the twins are *blank* months old!" post! And October happens to be ten months...wow, double digits!

First, I hafta say, I love, love, love, LOVE being home with these two! It's definitely work, oh yes...but the most fun work I've EVER done! And I've had some decently fun jobs in my time. Seriously, every day I thank Heavenly Father for these two, probably at least 20 times a day, I just can't believe how blessed we are.

Now, the update! We thought we'd have little walkers by 10 months, but unless they kick it into gear today, we're going to be off a bit. They've both taken 2 or 3 little trippy steps, especially yesterday, but no real walking. Bran started the 2 steps two weeks ago, and then adamently resisted all efforts to engage him in more unassisted walking, the stubborn little rascal.

So what are they up to? Nuala laughs a lot. Scrunches up her nose and shows all 4 of her chiclet teeth (She has 2 more popping through, but they're not to chiclet-stage yet). Often, the laugh is accompanied by snorting...yep, such a lady! She loves to play peek-a-boo, putting diapers, clothes, books, blankets, or whatever's around on her head. She has started clapping, and has been a real Daddy's girl lately, always wanting to be snuggling with him, or standing by him. She'll stick her tongue out when we say tongue, definitely a habit to get her started on early. Unfortunately, she has become very interested in the major anatomical difference between herself and Bran...diaper changes can be pretty dicey sometimes, trying to ward off her grabby little hands. Especially if he's poopy...she doesn't care, but yuck! Bran, so far, is blissfully unaware of the danger.

Speaking of baby brother, Bran has become attached to a soft, fuzzy little blanket. Just for bedtime, he's no Linus yet. It's like magic, he sees the blanket, or it touches him, and his eyelids start to droop, he slumps down, and a thumb goes straight into his mouth. It's handy to have around...He likes to squish through very tight places, and then complain if he gets stuck. I always say, "what did you expect???" but it doesn't change things. It's actually pretty funny sometimes (okay...all the time), and yes, like any good mom I'll often run for the camera while he's angrily squealing. He also loves playing with balls. Especially a little orange basketball, which is very pleasing to me :D He throws it all around, and even spent one afternoon "throwing" it over and over into a laundry basket. Okay, not a whole afternoon...maybe 5 minutes...but that's a long time for a 10-month old. Bran is our big smoocher. Sweet-breath, open-mouth, drooly kisses...what more could a mama ask for?!

They love to play by each other, and get in big giggly-fits. They talk and laugh at nap or bedtime, each at the end of their little bed. I've even caught them sharing toys or pacifiers a time or two, though I can tell they're trying to keep that under wraps, it wouldn't do for us to get used to them sharing, we might actually come to expect it!

ahhh, those big toothy grins are SO cute....I can't wait to see them (and you) and Christmastime. Of course they will be b'ball enthusiasts...and I guess they'll have a built in coach. They prob have too much fun crawl racing to even bother about the wobbly art of walking yet.... thanks for all the wonderful updates....we love you all.... Mom & Dad xox

That was like a storybook post! Very cute. Man! Bran has that little mischievousness about him like Zach did as a kid. He is totally plotting... you can see it in his look! watch out for him!

I like the difference between their hair... brans is quite tame and sticks to his head while Nuala's is always static-electrified constantly!

I can't wait to see my little inchworm and be a mommy.

Love you guys! m.

Just wait until Nuala gets curious everytime you give them a bath together, then bran will notice. My sister has some awesome bath stories from her twins. Potty training ones too. Can't wait to hear yours. I agree it is the best job. The busiest but the most rewarding.
