Aislinn tipped me off to NaNoWriMo, and we both have signed up. It sounds really cool, this is what it is, in their words:
National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.
Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.
Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.
Go sign up, it'll be fun!! Or don't, but either way, please bug Aislinn and me about it, we want to complete our novels! Which means I should go and try to figure out what the heck to write about...so many options...so little time...
(Oh, and Happy Halloween!!)

Oh cool! I have always wanted to "write a novel" even though I'm not even a writer! (It just sounds like the coolest job in the world.)
I won't be signing up, but I will certainly volunteer to bug you about it keeping on schedule. :)
oooh super cool! Robyn should do it if she wasn't already doing a million things.
I'm really excited to see the end result. You had better let us check it out when finished. I definitely won't be signing up... now if it was painting, I'd be right on top of it!
You asked to be bugged about it... remember those were your words... *mua-hah-hah-haaa!*
This sounds entertaining for the rest of us to see what you put out!
I want to read the end product too! Are you going to keep it all a secret or let us know what's going on? I'm proud of you for doing this, good luck!
I always wanted to be a writer...and a dancer...and an opera singer...and be beautiful...I will live the writer through you...this should be very entertaining!
