Pregnancy Brain

Apparently pregnancy causes a woman to have brain lapses. This has been happening a bit, but seems to have gotten more pronounced this week. Examples:

Monday: My neighbors threw me a lovely little baby shower. Prior to that, I had used the oven to heat a delicious, organic frozen burrito from Costco. I highly recommend them, delicious! I came home a couple of hours later to discover a nice warm house, since I had forgotten to turn off the oven.

Tuesday: I got home from errands and visiting Erin about 4:30 or 5 ish. About 6:30 I leave for basketball (I didn't play, just shot and chatted). I took Z's keys because he has the little remote unlocker thingy, which I usually think is too gigantic to carry around, but does come in handy. When I return at 8 ish, I see my keys from getting home at 5 ish still in the front door lock. Not cool. Luckily, no one had snuck in.

Wednesday: My friend Sandy and her family had me over for dinner. It was very enjoyable! She and a couple of her sons walked me home. As we get close I'm telling her about my pregnancy brain and how I left my keys in the door all evening Tuesday. As I enter the house, I'm struck, once again, by a heat wave, and instantly remember not turning off the oven after I baked cookies to take to Sandy's house. It was 80 degrees inside. I opened windows and turned on fans and by this morning it had only gotten down to 75.

Thursday: I was getting ready to leave for my doctor's appt. at about 9:45. I reach for my keys, which should be hanging by the door. Hmmm...not there. Oh no...I open the front door, and lo and behold, there are my keys, dangling, once again, in the lock, where I left them last night even after telling Sandy about doing that exact thing on Tuesday. How dense can I be?! And how creepy is that? They were hanging there all night long! Again, no one decided to visit, thankfully.

Now I'm going to put a big ole' note on the front door, reminding myself to check oven and keys, so before I leave or lock up for the night I'll at least look into those two things. I'm sure I'll forget something else, though...

Fiona with twins. The Irish clan is growing. I hope they'll be a sassy as Fiona's mother. Some cutting remarks about Americans would be in order, eh?
The Ricker family has a great hold on my heart.
