Okay...today (Friday, although I'm writing this early Saturday am) was a good and a bad day.
Bad: As the title hints, we're not going to Tbilisi. We are furious, disappointed, sad, confused -- and, in case I didn't mention it, furious!!! We had our house, our tickets, everything, we were so excited to go!!! We were supposed to fly out on April 25, in 2 and 1/2 weeks...thanks for the notice, Federal Government!
We're pretty fed up with Z's employer, and this is the last straw. The only thing that kept us with them last time they screwed us over (we were supposed to go to Zambia last Oct., but it was nowhere near as final as this...we had a few months notice when that fell through) was the opportunities they offer for living overseas. They're so incompetant and idiotic, so close-mouthed, won't even tell us exactly why we're not going...AAARGH!!!!
This is not over, Federal Government...we will hound you for answers, some sort of clue into your stupidity...After spending over a million dollars (yes, your money, taxpayers) on training Zac, most recently $7,000 for us both to take one-on-one Russian lessons, they keep treating him like dirt. It's not just him, there's tons of stories like this, and we've just had it with them. His immediate supervisors are great, it's people in other areas of the beauracracy that are lacking. I quit my job, my sis and her family were going to rent our house and now hafta figure that stuff out, the list goes on and on.
Anyway, our overseas plans are foiled once again, but by no means are they out the window. We will find a job that will help us go international, and that pays way more than good ole' Uncle Sam. At least I can tell a Russian salesclerk what size I wear. And Z did get to take a really cool driving course, where he was at the top of his class, as usual! AAAAAAHHHHHH, the jerks!
Good: Okay, the good news from today. We had our egg retrieval, and they sucked 21 of those babies outa me! Awesome!!! Of course, I hafta give 10 of them to the nice couple who paid for most of our IVF cycle (great insurance, Federal Government...), but that leaves us with 11, yay!!! Now we'll just continue with the waiting game...how many fertilize...how many make it to transfer...how many freeze...how many babies are in there :) Wait, wait, wait...sigh...Also today, the beautiful cradle my father-in-law made arrived, it's so gorgeous! I'll post a picture of it soon. It can fit two babies at a time, we think the kiddos will look down from heaven and say, "Cool cradle! Let's get down there!" Also, my parents came flew into town for baby Brigit's blessing on Sunday, so there's some good stuff going on, too!
Life is good, bad things happen, but we can be happy anyway. Eternal perspective...
